The best dinner rolls ever
My sister in law who is a wonderful baker makes these rolls for all our family get together and they are so good! They look like a lot of work, but they are so worth it. I would rather eat these than dessert. The best part is if you have somewhere to put them you can partially bake them and then freeze them for up to two weeks and they still taste like the day you made them! That is what we all need, to make things ahead of time!
Makes: 2 pan or 4 dozen rolls (or double and save in freezer)
3/4 c warm water
3 T. yeast
3/4 c butter or margarine
3/4 c. sugar
2 1/4 c. milk
1 1/2 T. salt
3 eggs
9 c. flour
Dissolve in mixing bowl.
Melt butter in large sauce pan. Dissolve sugar and salt. Add milk and eggs. Check to make sure temp is 110 degrees. Mix yeast and water than add other ingredients. Mix all together add flout to correct dough consistency. Knead, cover and raise in 110 degree oven until doubled (appox 1 hr) Form rolls, raise until desired size (15-30 min) Bake @ 400 for 13-15 min. Brush finished rolls with 1/4 c. milk and 2T. sugar while still warm.
To Form Rolls:
divide dough 1/2 pan sections (for 2 pans 4 sections). Roll each section into a circle and divide into 12ths (4th's first the each 4th into 3rds.)
Roll like a crescent and place on buttered cookie sheet. 3 across 8 down.
After baked and cooled you can cover the cookie sheet in plastic and freeze rolls, they'll stay good for a couple of weeks. Thaw then cover in aluminum foil and warm in the oven. The rolls will taste like you just baked them!
